Part of the culture war is just another glass half full/glass half empty sort of situation. Things like pornography even vulgar literature has always existed since the dawn of time. There is a 14th century French poem titled “the knight who could speak to cunts.” We are what we consume and certain people in the culture want to consume negative things and  others, beautiful things. Without an oppressive dictatorship, you can’t avoid coming in contact with the negative. I remember how I learned the name of the first movie that showed intercourse: “I Am Curious Yellow” from Jerry Falwell on TV. The moral majority seems obsessed with a lot of ‘trash’ stuff that I just avoid so I don’t know it exists.
