Crumbling
In the Remix America interview the other day, Marshall asked us which candidate we’re supporting. The three of us haven’t discussed it, but I’m under the impression that I am the only one not voting for one of the two main candidates. I have my reasons, the main one being that neither of the two candidates hold my beliefs about what this country should be.
There is a good chance that we will see a 3rd party rise up in the next 10-15 years that will have enough power and people behind it to shake the shit out of American politics. There is a large and growing number of young people who are disillusioned with both parties, and are actively seeking alternatives. Hence the Ron Paul movement. He has said himself, many times, that his campaign is not about him. It’s about people with strict Libertarian and Constitutional ideals who have found themselves without a party.
We’re in a very exciting time in American history now, but not for the reasons you hear on TV about a possible black president (although I’m sure that’s exciting to a lot of people). The real excitement comes in 4-8 years when both of these douchebag parties have fucked our country in the ass so hard that neither Democrats nor Republicans have any crumbs of credibility left. That’s when things start happening fast. The hog is in the tunnel, as Hunter would say, and the fat is in the fire.
